What is the Difference?

Whether you park at the airport or at one of the off-site DTW parking facilities, there are a couple of differences between each parking option.

Price Comparison

The Detroit Airport off-site parking facilities offer rates that are lower than the airport’s parking prices. In fact, you can save even more money if you reserve your parking on these companies’ websites. If you’re looking to save money when parking at Detroit Airport, then park at one of the off-site parking options: U.S. Park, Qwik Park, Airlines Parking, or Park ‘N Go.

Company Online Reservation Rate Non-Reservation Rate
U.S. Park $10/Day $11/Day
Qwik Park $10/Day $11/Day
Airlines Parking $10/Day $12/Day
Park ‘N Go $9/Day $9.50/Day

The cheapest parking option that the Wayne County Airport Authority offers is the Green Lot. The Green Lot is located a half a mile from the North Terminal and about 2 miles from the McNamara Terminal. If you would rather not take a shuttle from the Green Lot to the airport, you can park at the DTW Airport garage that is close to your terminal. Of course, you will be charged double for parking at the garages, but you will have the convenience of walking to your DTW terminal

Finding a parking space

When you pull up to any of these parking facilities, you will be told which row to park in upon check-in. This allows you to find a parking space very quickly and expedite your shuttle pick-up process so you can arrive at the airport without any hassle.

When you park at the Green Lot or the McNamara Terminal and North Terminal parking garages, you are not directed to the nearest parking space. Normally, you will be able to find a parking space after a couple of minutes. However, finding parking can become more of a problem especially around the holidays when parking is in high demand and spaces are limited.

Service

You may be thinking, “It will take so much longer to get to DTW Airport if I park at an off-site facility.” Actually, that’s not the case!

When you arrive, you will be directed to park in a specified row. While you park, the shuttles will be notified of your parking location so they can pick you up quickly. Board the shuttle for a short, 5 minute drive to the curbside of Detroit Airport. After being dropped off, you will only need to ascend an elevator to walk to the DTW terminals.

The Green Lot’s shuttles are located a few minutes from both terminals and run every 10 minutes.

However, if you park at Detroit Airport’s parking garages, you will only need to walk from your vehicle to the terminals. However, depending on where you park, you could walk a few feet or a couple hundred feet in order to get to the inside of the terminal.
